What is the germ count?

The germ count is an indicator of the number of live microorganisms per millimeter or per gram, that is, the number of bacterial germs found in or on a product. This number is also indicated by the term colony-forming units (cfu). Germ count can be determined by placing the product on a specific nutrient medium and exposing it to certain temperature influences or using flow cytometry.
